Webinars for Parents, Family Members and Supporters of Newly Admitted U of T Students, St. George Campus

This is an annual webinar hosted by the Student Life Orientation and Transition Committee in June, July and August. All parents, family members, friends and other supporters of newly admitted U of T students are welcome to attend.

April

Transition Day for U of T Students with Disabilities

This is an annual event hosted by U of T’s Accessibility Services every April. Transition Day is an opportunity to learn about academic accommodations and how they are implemented at U of T. During this event, support services available to students, assessment processes and student transitions are discussed. Prospective, newly admitted and enrolled U of T students are welcome to attend, as well as their parents, family members, friends and other supporters, such as high school educators, guidance counsellors and community partners who work with students with disabilities. June/July/ August

Moving Forward

Moving Forward is a transition program specifically designed for incoming U of T students living with disabilities (e.g. learning disability, mental health-related, ADHD, physical challenges or another accessibility issue). Throughout June, July and August, the Moving Forward program offers specific sessions for undergraduate students, international students, transfer students, professional and graduate students. In September, a Moving Forward Refresher is also offered during the first few weeks of the Fall term. Students are encouraged to register via the Moving Forward website.

August

Financial Aid for First Generation Undergrad Students & Their Families and Friends 

In August, Access & Inclusion Peer Programs hosts a financial aid event for first generation students (students whose parents/guardians did not complete post-secondary education in Canada).  This event focuses on the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), financial awards and financial counselling. Access & Inclusion welcomes parents, guardians and supporters to join U of T students at this event. Students may register via CLNx. Moving Forward Refresher 

During the first few weeks of September, A Moving Forward Refresher is offered. The Moving Forward Refresher is a transition program specifically designed for U of T students living with disabilities (e.g. learning disability, mental health-related, ADHD, physical challenges or another accessibility issue). Students are encouraged to register for the refresher via the Moving Forward website.

Learning at U of T – A Guide for Parents and Supporters

The Academic Success team warmly invite parents, partners, family, and/or supporters for a virtual presentation and Q&A session about learning at U of T. At this event, we will discuss the effective practices that help students transition to university learning. We will touch on academic expectations and the new demands of undergraduate learning. You will also discover the range of academic support services available to students.

November and June

Convocation & Virtual Ceremonies

U of T’s Office of Convocation invites family and friends to celebrate the significant milestones and remarkable achievements of students. In the past, Spring and Fall in-person, webcasted and virtual convocation ceremonies have been offered by U of T. For information on upcoming convocation related news and events, please visit the Graduation and Convocation webpage.
